Description

Wolverine Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Akima LLC, provides the reliable facilities operations and maintenance, base level logistics, airfield operations, and range operations services that keep military bases and federal agency posts around the country operating at peak efficiency. The Instrument Mechanic resolves day-to-day technical problems in a research laboratory environment and ensures equipment and machinery are in compliance with laboratory standards and specifications. Repairs and maintains research equipment, machinery or instruments to ensure that it functions reliably and complies with laboratory specifications; responds to emergencies, break-downs, malfunctions etc. to minimize disruptions to laboratory processes; maintains maintenance records so that recurring problems can be identified and addressed; calibrates or adjusts; maintains tools and repair equipment in good working order at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Western Regional Research Center (WRRC) in Albany, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing problems when machinery malfunctions, conducting electrical repairs (i. e., wiring, sensors), and completing Work Orders and PM's.

  • Monitoring laboratory equipment as well as recommending improvements.

  • Maintaining all Control systems, calibrating all critical control equipment and documenting findings.

  • Specifying and ordering correct parts for work orders and projects.

  • Working with outside contractors on jobs and projects.

  • Following all applicable codes and ordinances.

  • Calibrating and maintaining all pneumatic and electronic instrumentation.

  • Troubleshooting and maintaining programmable controllers.

  • Programming all types of process logic controllers.

  • Maintaining and updating programs.

  • Maintaining inventory of replacement parts.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing AC frequency controlled drives. Diagnosing, repairing, calibrating maintaining laboratory equipment.

  • Performing all other work related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience. 2 years can be supplemented through prior attendance in a trade school completion in instrumentation and controls.

  • Journeyman level electrician certification.

  • A valid California Driver s License

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions include potential exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and confined space hazards. Qualified in the use of respiratory protection equipment may be required if part of a permitted confined space entry team or performing tasks with exposure to chemicals, hazardous atmospheres, monitoring, acid cleaning, chlorine system repair, or heavy dust concentrations.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
